Samoan Phrases

Last week was Samoan Language Week and Panmure Bridge school celebrated it by doing dances and dressing up with traditional Samoan clothing such as Puletasi’s ect. We learnt differe

nt phrases in Samoan to help Samoan students help learn and for teachers to know what to do when a Samoan student arrives. In LS2, we  respect everyones cultures and would not show disresepect toward cultures that some pupils arent.

Learning Journey

For this task, I created a Learning Journey DLO to showcase some of the work I have completed this year in reading, writing, maths, and AI. I linked my learning to my blog posts so my teachers and whānau could see the progress I have made throughout the year.

While creating this DLO, I reflected on the different activities and skills I have worked on across each subject. It was interesting looking back at all the tasks we have completed and seeing how much my confidence and understanding have grown over time. This activity helped me prepare for student conferences and gave me the opportunity to share my learning journey in a creative and organised way.

We learnt all about abstract nouns which is something that describes a feeling of someone or something, this is a type of what I say a spiritual connection and is something that you can’t touch, smell or do anything with since its not a physical thing, but we made peoms to describe how it feels to have or sense and what it’d be like if it was something you could touch hold smell and other things.

Kapa Haka (Teacher only Day)

As you can see in these photos, we had a special day performing for a Teacher-Only Day. It was for schools in our cluster, meaning teachers and principals from different schools all came together. The event took place on Friday, the 28th of May.

We had to arrive at school at 8:00 AM to get ready, put on our kapa haka clothes, and get our moko stamped on our faces. After a quick warm-up, we left the changing rooms and performed at 9:00 AM.

Building Our Hope

After Readind The Dairy of Anne Frank and The boy in the Stripped Pyjamas we talk about what people  must have felt like having their whole world turnedupside down. I cant imagine what it felt like if i was there it would feel torture was soon i step in there. Yesterday we discussed how we put their cloth of dreams Back togther again This activity was inpired by the book Teaspoon of Light we collaborated there was also no rules it was about creeative and expressions to the that gratitude and respect

Mood , Atmosphere and Characterisation

In reading, my group created a DLO about different types of characters and how mood and atmosphere are used in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. We explained the difference between protagonists and antagonists, as well as round and flat characters. We also explored how mood and atmosphere affect the way readers feel during important parts of the story.

While working on this task, we used examples from the text to explain our ideas more clearly. It was interesting learning how different characters have different roles in a story and how the atmosphere can make scenes feel tense, emotional, or uncomfortable.

This activity helped me understand how authors use characters and setting to shape the mood of a story and create stronger emotions.

Nano Banana

Today for Reading, LS2 created images using Nano banana AI of contrasts of the story ” The boy in the stripped PJs”. Contrast means basically two things having a difference towards each other. My first slide is of a boy named Bruno and another boy named Shmuel. Bruno is  very full of life with similarities with Shmuel sharing a birthday but Shmuel is Jewish whilst Bruno is German. Shmuel is a boy wearing stripped PJs with a shaved head at a concentration camp. The second slide is of two houses that contrast because of one of the houses being a three story with a grey no emotion vibe and the other house being a five story house  with emotion and is filled with color and life.

Contrast

LI: To use Ai to create a image that shows the contrast between the characters.

Our task was to make a DLO about what the definition on what Contrast, We were also challenged to generate a image that shows the contrast between the two boys or all of the contrast in the book the Boy In Stripped Pajamas. One thing that I liked about this task is that we could expiament with our blurb to generate the image that shows the Contrast.
