SLJ step it up

For this step it up task we had to make a spider web made out of paper with the patterns and our cutting skills, we had to fold it and cut it in specific ways to make the spider web pattern appear. One fact I learnt about spider webs, they are both made out of strong protein fibers stronger than steel by weight.

  1. Kia Ora Haloti! This is Matua Peter from the Summer Learning Journey. Congratulations on completing your Art in the Web Step it up activity!

I’d like to share a mīharo (wonderful/amazing) shout-out for the fantastic paper spider web you created. The geometric patterns you managed to cut out look very symmetrical and precise, which shows you have great control with your cutting skills!

It was also fascinating to read the fact you found about spider silk being stronger than steel by weight—that makes spiders sound like tiny superheroes!

I wonder if you found the folding or the cutting part of the task more challenging? Also, don’t forget about your badges! Make sure you check your profile to see the one you have earned for this “Step It Up” challenge.

This is truly amazing work, Haloti. Your creativity and the way you shared your learning are wonderful to see. Keep it up!

    Mā te wā,

    Matua Peter

  2. Hello, Haloti

Thank you for sharing your Step It Up task about making a paper spider web. Folding and cutting the paper in specific ways to create patterns is a great activity that builds both creativity and cutting skills. It is clear that you followed the steps carefully to make the spider web pattern appear.

I also liked the interesting fact you shared about spider webs being made from strong protein fibres that are stronger than steel by weight. This connects your practical work with scientific learning. You explained your task clearly and showed good effort throughout. Keep up the great work!
