I will be doing it for around 9-12 hours a day and will be using my own room, I will start around 9am and end around 8Pm-10Pm but also I would have good pay if I was recognized as a average new new zealand game developer earns around a whopping $60,000 to $80,000 per year while experienced ones earns around $80,000 to $100,000+ per year while every hour they make around $33-$59.

Trip to Auckland War Memorial Museum

Today’s inquiry learning activity took place at a trip to the Auckland Museum. The reason was because we were learning about making wise choices when a volcanic eruption happens. The main point of the challenge was that, me and my group had 30 seconds to pack everything that we would need in order to survive a volcanic eruption. The items that were there to pack were, toys, can of food, hole punch, torch, can opener,  pan, gloves, cat, muesli bar, cat food, goggles, bottle of water, tea towel, first aid kit, mask and colouring book. The goal was to evacute safely along with the items we need, and to survive the volcanic eruption in 30 seconds.

I found this activity pretty challenging and interesting because when me and my group attended this challenge, we practically packed every single item that was there.

Ai Dinosaur Fossils

for this task We used our Ai skill Dinosaur fossils are the old bones and shapes of dinosaurs that people find buried in the ground. Sometimes, tiny pieces of these bones turn into stones called fossils. Artificial intelligence (Ai) can help scientists find and understand these fossils better. Imagine you have a digital museum app that shows pictures of dinosaur fossils. When you ask, “Tell me AI Dinosaur Fossils,” the app quickly finds pictures and facts about dinosaur fossils that are stored and analyzed using artificial intelligence, making it easy for you to learn about different dinosaurs and their fossils without searching through books or websites manually.

Trace and Body fossils

    • LI: To understand how scientists know so much about dinosaurs.

  • LI: To recognise different types of fossils and how they are formed.

For inquiry we are learning about dinosaurs, paleontologist and different types of fossils.  We have learnt about body and trace fossils and something I have learnt about trace and body fossils that trace fossils are preserved remains of the ancient animal and its skeleton, these fossils help us learn what it was like over a 100 million years ago. Trace fossils are finds of life or animals which includes footprints, trails tooth marks and fossilised animals, droppings and other different finds.

Paleontology

LI: Understand the systematic process of scientific excavation and the importance of accurate data collection in paleontology.

We needed to create a 50 word summary that tells us what paleontology is and what palaotologists do.
We also needed to include a statement that tells us why fossils finds are important and how the past informs us today.

Mary Anning

LI: To create a DLO that tells Mary Annings story from her perspective story.

Before we take part in our own dinosaur dig LS2 were challenged to capture the story behind Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter and paleontologist during the early 19th century.  Mary Anning did discover the first almost complete skeleton of a plesiosaur, a marine reptile, in 1823.   She also nearly completed the ichthyosaur skeleton another marine reptile.  Who was also knowned as on of the first paleontologist.

Volcano Animation

Last week Wednesday LS2 created a volcano animation. We had to get into pairs of group of 2 or group of 4 for this task to proceed. We used our smart tracing skills to make an animation of how a volcano erupts, we used the tracing lines polyline and curve line.

I enjoyed this task because we used Google slides to show an animation,I found this task interesting because we used a unique way to show how a volcano erupts.

Time Traveller’s Podcast ft Samuel Marsden

For Literacy we have been using our Inquiry knowledge to help us write questions that we might have asked Reverend Samuel Marsden had we had the chance to meet him and talk to him. This was a fun activity because we took on the roles of Samuel Marsden and the Time Traveller’s Podcast team. It was like we experienced actually meeting him.

We learned that when you are recording a podcast expression is everything! It makes what we have to say more engaging.

The Kokako

LI: To use our smart searching skills

The Year 7/8 to camp was at Kokako Lodge in Hunua. Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words.

Something I found interesting about the kokako bird was They are large birds that can weigh up to 500g when mature.

A Moment of time

LI: write a poem that describes a moment in time

At camp we had lots of challenge activities to try. Our challenge in with our poem was to chose our words carefully so that we painted a clear picture of what we were describing in the mind for our readers. And I will describe how the camp went,it  felt so cold as Soon as we touched the water. We chose this challenge because i wanted to overcome the coldness in the water and to have some leadership and have some courage as well so we could finish the activity.
