The owl that became a story

Mrs Anderson read us the book ‘First Flight’ by June Crebbin. We talked about the narrators point of view and used a Gemini Gem to prompt us to think more deeply about what the story might look like when told in the first person.

Every single morning in the glimmering sun there was once an owl who always wanted to learn on how to fly, every time he asked for permission from his mother she always denies it, the reason why she denied it because the entire flock of owls are nocturnal ( Meaning that they are not use to the mornings )

As the sun finally hid behind the mountains and the shadows grew long, the moon climbed into the sky. This was the signal for the night to begin! The parliament of owls woke up, and their hoots echoed through the trees as they shared the secrets of the dark.

While it was still pitch black ! The parliament of owls woke up and hooted through the trees. But as I tried to fly, the wind became too strong for my small wings. I lost the other owls  in the dark and had to land on a branch to catch my breath.

I gave my loudest owl call, hoping my mother would find me. I was so far from our home tree that I was scared she couldn’t hear me. It was pitch black, and I knew my mother would be growing worried that I was lost in the shadows.

When it was morning and my energy was great , I used all my power source to fly in the direction I was coming from when I left.

The first hour had passed and half of my energy was drained. I was really exhausted and wanted to sit in the shade of a nearby tree, but my gut was telling me to keep on going and don’t stop. When it was night I heard a callout saying my name. I thought I was hallucinating but when I lookedI looked in the distance, i could see my mother standing on a tree branch looking shocked that i made it ou there alive. It is important to listen and pay attention to what you dont know where your going or up tos

Anne Frank – The Annex

For this week of writing, I have learnt about the terrible story of Anne Frank and her life in the annex.

I first needed to learn about what the annex was, who was Anne Frank, and why was she so important? My teacher had given us a website that gave us a visual website of the annex. It was a small little back house that fit 7 people but was probaly meant for about 2, 3 max. It was behind a business office that was covered in Nazi soilders.

I read the information that was connected to each object. I found out that  That Anne Frank wa to scead to get a glass of wate

SLJ step it up

For this step it up task we had to make a spider web made out of paper with the patterns and our cutting skills, we had to fold it and cut it in specific ways to make the spider web pattern appear. One fact I learnt about spider webs, they are both made out of strong protein fibers stronger than steel by weight.

SLJ Kick start

For this activity we neeeded to draw our own spider webs and explaing how spiders make there spiders webs.  First we watched a video article called “Spider Webs: Nature’s Tiny Masterpieces”. Then we needed to research and learn how spiders make webs:

  • Making liquid silk inside their body.

  • Pushing that liquid out through tiny holes (spinnerets) on their rear end.

  • The silk instantly hardens into a thread when it hits the air.

  • They use their legs to shape the threads into a web.

SLJ critter

For this Summer Learning Journey activity we needed to create a animal (Hybrid) using our creativity and imaginary, our animal is a hybrid of a chameleon, tortoise, leopard and elephant and we’ve named it Lepeteleon.

The abilities from the leopard grants speed up to 58 km per hour, a shell from a Tortoise giving it a strong armor for protection. Also the powers to camouflage with it environment/surroundings from the chameleon and lastly the strong legs from a elephant.
